TSA Tours at Doors Open Toronto 2025: St. Andrew's Playground Park
The city’s oldest downtown playground, St. Andrew’s Playground Park, originally opened in 1908 and recently revitalized by DTAH, is a playful landscape nestled into Toronto’s dense and lively Fashion District. The re-imagined park now includes playful seating, a robust tree canopy, and whimsical yellow accents and pops of colour that unify the space.
Join the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA) and DTAH on this unique tour led by the team behind the revitalization exploring how playfulness is integrated throughout the park, creating a bright space for visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy. We’ll discuss the overall strategy and challenges with renovating the previous space, including how the mature heritage trees on site informed design decisions, and delve into the circulation, programs, and materiality of the park today.
This tour is being offered at 2:00 PM and again at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 24.
This is one of three tours organized by the TSA for Doors Open Toronto 2025 exploring this year’s theme: play. Check out our tours for The Sara Jackman Playground and the St. James Park Playground for more opportunities to learn about playground design in our city.
