TSA Technical Series: Maintaining your Envelope’s Insurance Coverage

Water ingress has long been one of the major sources of claims against Canadian architects. In the 1990s—in no small part as a response to the “Leaky Condo” crisis and the significant insurance losses and claims that followed—many insurance providers, including the predecessor to Ontario’s Pro-Demnity, set strict technical requirements that need to be followed to ensure coverage for professional liability claims related to the ingress of precipitation. Understanding and following these technical requirements is critical to protecting your practice.
