TSA BASH 2026

The wait will soon be over! Tickets for the 2026 TSA BASH—Toronto’s architectural community’s biggest celebration—will be available starting next Thursday, October 22 at 9:00 AM.

A long-standing tradition, the TSA’s annual year-end BASH is an opportunity for the GTA’s architecture and design community to come together and celebrate in unique spaces across our city. No two years are alike, with a new featured venue chosen every year and the party tailored to reflect the design stories behind the building. Great food, delicious drinks and beautiful architecture—there is no better way to celebrate our city and those who shape it.

2026 Venue: Waterworks

Reuse is always in, and this year we’re excited to bring the party to one of the most delicious examples of adaptive reuse in our city: Waterworks!

Located on the site of the former St. Andrew’s Market (demolished 1932), the Water Works Buildings were completed in 1933 following the design of City Architect J.J. Woolnough. An art deco industrial assembly, the project was part of a plan to provide work during the Great Depression and served as a municipal facility for the City of Toronto’s water works offices, equipment storage, and maintenance. It would continue to operate as a municipal maintenance facility until 2013.

Starting in 2016, a new Waterworks began to emerge, starting with the adaptive reuse of the eastern portion of the complex by Eva’s Phoenix to provide transitional housing and employment training facilities. Between 2022 and 2025, a number of significant new facilities opened in the former industrial complex, including 10 new floors of residential units, a Food Hall housed in the former machine shop, and a brand new YMCA. The adaptive reuse of the Waterworks site includes the full retention and reuse of numerous portions of the former facility, as well as the retention of the northern portion of the complex to accommodate various uses. The redevelopment also strengthens pedestrian porosity, using the pre-existing to create new opportunities for pedestrian connections through the block.
