Newcomer in Architecture Information Session 2026

Are you an internationally trained architect and new to Canada? Wondering about paths to practice and where to start when obtaining your licence? Looking for resources and more information about the roles of local organizations? We’ve got you covered!

Join us on November 2 at 6:00 PM ET for our annual information session with representatives of the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB), the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), and The Royal Architectural Institute Of Canada (RAIC) as we discuss some of the different paths to practice in Canada for internationally trained architectural professionals.

We’ll cover a wide variety of programs including Accreditation, Academic Certification, the RAIC Syllabus Program, the OAA’s Technology Program (OTP), and the Broadly Experienced Foreign Architects (BEFA) Program, as well as existing mutual recognition treaties. Our guests will also clarify several recent updates to their programs, such as the provisional status under the OAA’s Internship in Architecture Program (IAP) for those awaiting CACB certification and the admission course flexibility for interns in the OTP, as well as new Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs). We’ll also review other important aspects to keep in mind when transitioning your career to Ontario. The session will end with an extended Q&A session providing you an opportunity to ask all those burning questions you have!

So, if you’re an internationally-trained professional looking to continue your career in Canada, don’t miss out on this opportunity to understand the ins and outs of architectural licensing and practice in Canada.
