Doors Open TO 2026 | TSA Tours: Toronto’s Story in 4 Spaces
The grand civic buildings and spaces around Nathan Phillips Square have quite the story to tell. Embedded into their designs—through their form, material choices, stylistic expression, and even orientation—are the values, priorities, and cultural heritage of those who built them and the image of our city they wanted to project to the world.
Reflecting on this year’s Doors Open theme, “The World in a City,” join the TSA on a walk around Toronto’s civic heart as we visit four special buildings and landscapes that together help tell the story of our city and the citizens who have shaped it. From the late-Palladian Osgoode Hall to the unabashedly modern City Hall, we’ll break down how each of our stops captures a moment in Toronto’s evolution and the role design can play in expressing a city’s civic spirit. Our tour will end at the Spirit Garden, a new space which returns visibility to Indigenous history and culture to the heart of Toronto.
