Canadian Wood Council Webinar: Standardizing Residential Building Forms
While much of the attention on housing delivery has focused on Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), design standardization is the other half of the equation and a critical component of a more efficient housing system. This webinar explores how standardized residential building forms are being developed to streamline design and approvals, reduce project risk, and support scalable housing delivery. Drawing on examples ranging from low-rise wood-frame to emerging tall timber housing initiatives, the session will examine the opportunities and challenges of applying repeatable building forms across different contexts, and how lessons from current pilot programs may help shape future approaches to residential development.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the principles behind standardized residential building forms and their role in housing delivery.
- Examine approaches being used to develop and implement repeatable housing designs.
- Assess the benefits and challenges associated with adopting standardized building forms in different jurisdictions.
- Explore how current pilot programs and emerging industry resources may support future housing development.
