Want to inspire the next generation of city-builders? Love working with children and inspiring creativity? Then come join us as a Facilitator at our Kids’ Main Street Program as part of this year’s Gingerbread City!
Looking to expand our family and youth programs, the TSA is bringing back a one-day kids workshop as part of Gingerbready City, first launched last year in 2022. Kids’ Main Street is a special section of Gingerbread City and an annual event that brings together architects, designers, and gingerbread lovers alike to create unique edible creations. We invite kids (ages 7+) to design and make the facades of their own main street buildings through two sessions throughout one Saturday. All the facades will then be put together virtually to form one delicious thoroughfare.
Kids’ Main Street Facilitators are team players who enjoy working with children and getting crafty! Previous experience working with kids would be great, and baking skills or gingerbread knowledge is a bonus, but is not required.
What to expect?
Facilitators are expected to attend a one-hour virtual briefing in the weeks prior to the event and participate during the program at CSI Spadina from 9:00 – 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2023. They will aid in running the program, including helping children with their creations, using kitchen appliances like mixers, setting up/cleaning up, and other general events assistance as required. All supplies for the event will be provided along with detailed instructions.
Are you a baker and want to lend a hand in doing some pre-event bakes and setup? Please let us know! We’re always looking for extra hands to bake plenty of gingerbread for the kids too.
