Big Gay Out at Hanlan’s Point

Join Heritage Toronto on the August long weekend to commemorate the anniversary of one of the first Pride events in Toronto with a plaque unveiling and on-site activities at Hanlan’s Point!

Bring your own lunch and learn about the history of one of the city’s first Pride events. Explore the legacy of queer advocacy and activism on the Toronto Islands and beyond. Engage with the community with historical interpretation and activations throughout the day!

Join us at 11am for a special unveiling of a new Heritage Toronto plaque about the history of queer space at Hanlan’s Point and the first pride picnic held there. Activities and other events celebrating the history of the site will follow!
