Arts & Letters Award 2024 Dinner
The Arts & Letters Club grants The Arts & Letters Award each year to a non-member who has made a significant contribution to the arts that has not been fully recognized. This year’s recipient is Thomas Payne.
Thom was a founding partner of one of our country’s leading architectural firms, Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects (now KPMB Architects). His award-winning work there, over a 25-year span of leadership, has been recognized in three international monographs. In 2013 Thom ventured out on his own to create one of the country’s pre-eminent “boutique” architecture firms, where he continues designs that are at once practical and beautiful: a design ethos guided by truth, forward thinking, and artistic and social value. His works include the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, the renovation of Roy Thomson Hall, and the renovation of Stratford’s Festival Theatre.
After receiving the award Thom will speak about recent works and offer his thoughts on art and architecture over the span of his career.
