ACU Presents: Mahalli (of the Place) Lecture

Exploring Participatory Design to Foster Cultural Identity and a Sense of Place

Discover how local artisans shape interior renovations, redefining the authorship of design and scaling handcrafted practices. This engaging case study presented by the Architecture Course Union highlights architects as creators of systems and bridges between communities.

Speakers:

  • Farah Al Amin | Associate, DIALOG, Toronto, Canada
  • Nada Alobaidi | Project Architect, Holland Harvey, London, UK

Farah and Nada have been longtime collaborators. In 2016, they co-founded Tri Design Studio in the United Arab Emirates, a boutique design practice with a profile of civic, educational, office, and retail projects, as well as public art installations. Living miles apart, they continue to find ways to collaborate and create together.
