ACO Heritage Awards 2023

Opened in 1849, Enoch Turner Schoolhouse (originally Ward Street School) was Toronto’s first free school, educating the children of poor immigrant families from the Corktown neighbourhood. Threatened with demolition in the late 1960s, the Gothic Revival schoolhouse was saved and restored by concerned citizens including architect Eric Arthur. Since 2008 it has been owned and operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, and remains the oldest school structure in Toronto.

Join in on a beautifully catered cocktail party and formal awards presentation in this designated historic building. Doors open at 6pm. Event starts at 7pm.
