Election of New Chair & Vice Chair

Last night, during our 139th Annual General Meeting, we completed one of the most important rituals of our Society: the election of a new Chair and Vice Chair.
As a “pass the baton” community organization, where our volunteer leadership has been handing it off to the next generation for 139 years, the election of new Officers is always a very special occasion filled with gratitude for those who have dedicated countless hours to our Society and excitement for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
We are pleased to announce that in a unanimous vote, Barbora Vokac Taylor and Kfir Gluzberg have been elected to the positions of Chair and Vice Chair respectively. They join Treasurer Varsha Kumar and now Immediate Past Chair Ana Francisca de la Mora in forming the new TSA Officers, the volunteer leadership team at the head of our Society. With this change, Megan Torza (Chair 2020-2022) transitions from the Officers and Executive team to join the Advisory Board, a body made up of the Past Chairs of the TSA who provide advice and feedback to the Society when needed.
In addition to the Chair and Vice Chair election, the Annual General Meeting was also an opportunity to catch up on the work of the Society, review financial statements and our plans for the year ahead, and reflect on some of the priorities for the upcoming term. Throughout the evening, advocacy, leadership, and partnerships were recurring themes that will clearly shape our work in the years ahead, but there were also reflections on the importance of organizational capacity building and the robust fundraising efforts that are required to support these goals.
As we wrap this year’s AGM reflections, we want to once again say THANK YOU to Ana Francisca for her dedication and hard work during her term as Chair, and CONGRATULATIONS to our newest Officers on their election.
