Doors Open TO 2026 | TSA Architects Talk: Toronto’s Identity

How would you define our city to someone who has never visited Toronto?

With our reputation as being one of the world’s most diverse cities, our well-earned status as a great place for film and television creation, and the strong local pride of each of our neighbourhoods, Toronto is a city of endless identities. But what is our reputation when it comes to the built environment? Our buildings, landscapes, and urban character are some of the most powerful, tangible, and long-lasting shaping factors for a collective identity and story, with the ability to reinforce or resist the qualities we most cherish in our city.

Join the Toronto Society of Architects and Doors Open Toronto for our 2026 Architects Talk as we ask five speakers to help us define Toronto through the lenses of architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, and more, through fast-paced presentations (20 slides, 20 seconds each). The presentations will be followed by a moderated panel discussion where we will delve into the issues of identity in the built environment: from what our current built form says about our city, to the role architecture can play in expressing Toronto’s many identities.
