Call for Submission: Mentors for the BuildHer Future - Newcomer Women in Construction Program

Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto (NEW), an Employment Ontario-funded non-profit dedicated to empowering women through training, mentorship, and employment opportunities, invites professionals in Ontario’s Construction Sector to participate as mentors in the BuildHer Future – Newcomer Women in Construction Program.

Objective: The objective of this call is to recruit experienced professionals who can provide mentorship, guidance, and industry insight to Internationally Educated Professional Women (IEPW) preparing to enter Ontario’s construction sector. Mentors will support participants by sharing real-world industry knowledge and expectations, helping mentees navigate career pathways in construction, providing professional development advice and offering encouragement and confidence-building as they transition into the workforce. This mentorship initiative supports equitable access to opportunities and strengthens diversity, inclusion, and representation within the construction industry.

Eligibility: Eligible mentors include established professionals working in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Skilled Trades/Technicians, Project Management, Construction Technology or related fields. Mentors should have relevant industry experience in Ontario, be willing to commit time for structured mentorship sessions, be supportive of diversity, inclusion, and newcomer integration and provide constructive guidance based on professional practice.

The following are NOT eligible: Individuals without professional experience in construction or related fields, mentors unable to commit to scheduled mentorship activities and anyone whose affiliation could present a conflict of interest in NEW’s program delivery.
