Webinar: Landscape Carbon Benchmarking Study
This webinar will share key lessons from the Landscape Carbon Benchmarking Study, commissioned by the City of Toronto and prepared by DTAH. The study establishes carbon intensity benchmarks for private urban development landscapes and has recently been recognized with several awards, including the CLF Toronto Innovation in Industry Award, the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Jury’s Award of Excellence, and a CSLA National Award.
Using ten representative development sites in Toronto, the study measured upfront emissions and carbon sequestration, identified the landscape assemblies with the greatest carbon impacts, and showed how targeted design decisions can significantly change carbon outcomes. The findings provide a practical reference point for designers, municipalities, and policymakers, helping to build a common framework for carbon-conscious landscape design.
