TSA Portfolio & Resume Clinic
Registration for the Portfolio & Resume Clinic is now closed and the waitlist is full. While a rush line will be available the day of the event, please note we cannot guarantee that your portfolio will be reviewed.
Looking for a job—particularly your first one in the industry or in a new city—is never easy, and it is particularly challenging in the architecture and design industry where not only do you need a top-notch resume and cover letter, but also a compelling design portfolio that conveys your skills and potential. Whether you’re creating your first portfolio or updating an existing one, putting together this document can often feel like a daunting task riddled with questions: What should you add and what should you cut? What are employers really looking for? Is this too much text? But don’t worry – we’re here to help!
Join us on Saturday, May 4 for the TSA’s first ever Portfolio and Resume Review Clinic, as we bring together an amazing roster of guest reviewers to give you feedback on these important documents and share their insights on what makes a candidate stand out. Our portfolio reviewers represent a wide variety of practices within the industry, including architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design, and all have experience in the hiring process.
No matter what stage of your career you find yourself in, this will be an excellent opportunity to better understand how to showcase your architectural education, experience and unique professional journey on your portfolio and resume to help you meet your career goals.
How Can I Book A Portfolio Review?
We will have a number of limited spots available with our Guest Reviewers on Saturday, May 4. Each session will be 20-25 minutes long and requires prior registration. Please register by April 16, 2024. Visit our Eventbrite ticketing platform to register for the event, and there will be some short questions that will help determine the best and most relevant reviewers for you. You can learn more about the Guest Reviewers below.
Please note, while we will do our best to pair attendees to reviewers relevant to their experience and goals, we cannot guarantee any specific reviewer or speciality.
What About My Resume and Cover Letter?
Just because you have a beautiful portfolio doesn’t mean you don’t need a great resume! Throughout the day and in the same space, we also will have a drop-in support table with experienced recruitment and career professionals who can help you with your questions regarding resumes, cover letters, interviews, and more. While our drop-in resume support table does not require pre-registration, all participants are welcome to stop by with their questions before or after their portfolio review session.
If you have any questions, please see our FAQ on our Eventbrite page or contact us at tsa@torontosocietyofarchitects.ca.
