December 4: Christopher Hume on the future of architecture, as seen through his favourite projects in 21st Century cities
Christopher Hume returns to close out the series in style, capping off this survey of architectural wonders by assessing a series of architectural wonders that point towards an uplifting vision of the future. As he discusses the High Line in New York City, the Tate Modern Gallery in London, the Bosco Verticale in Milan, and other striking examples, he’ll show how each project transcends mere spectacle to meet the challenges of life in the 21st Century — from climate change to reusing heritage to infrastructural needs. He’ll end the series on an uplifting high note, celebrating a vision for the future of architecture that meets the grim realities we face in these uncertain times while still making room for beauty and elegance, humanity and delight.
