RFP: Ookwemin Minising Pop-up Gathering Space

As Ookwemin Minising continues to take shape, they’re also thinking about what it can be right now.

Together with C40 Cities and Waterfront Toronto, they’ve issued an RFP for a pop-up gathering space on the island – a temporary public space that will run from spring through fall 2026. The goal is simple and ambitious at the same time: turn a small piece of underused land into a place for people to sit, meet, learn and spend time, using modular and reused materials wherever possible.

They’re looking for experienced teams in tactical urbanism, design, art and fabrication who are excited to work in that space. Proposals are due February 20.
