Discussion Topic: Chapter 4.1: Types of Design-Construction Program Delivery
We’ll discuss the comprehensive process used to successfully complete the design and construction of buildings and other facilities. This chapter highlights the multiple project delivery options available to building owners, each with its own functions, features, benefits, and drawbacks. We’ll explore how project delivery methods have evolved in response to increased owner requirements, transfer of project risk, urgent time frames, higher building performance and safety demands, collaboration for higher quality outcomes, and economic pressures. The integration of design and construction activities has increased with innovations in technology, such as building information modeling (BIM), and process innovations through integrated project delivery (IPD) and public-private partnerships (P3s).
