Park(ing) Day Toronto 2025

From September 19–21, 2025, Toronto’s streets will look a little different. Park(ing) Day returns to the city, transforming ordinary parking spaces into temporary parks, gathering spots, and creative hubs. Part of a global movement that began in San Francisco in 2005, Park(ing) Day has grown into a worldwide celebration of reclaiming urban space for people.

Organized locally by Dubbeldam Architecture + Design, Park(ing) Day Toronto has been growing since its launch in 2022, thanks to a grant program that supports installations by community groups, students, non-profits, and individuals. This year, the event continues to expand across the city, inviting Torontonians to experience firsthand how our streets can be reimagined.

Visitors will discover a lively mix of installations and activities, including a tiny house in a parking spot, an open-air library with live storytelling, pollinator habitats featuring native plants, DIY street furniture workshops, kids’ crafts, a high-energy HIIT class, and even an open mic stage. These activations highlight the importance of vibrant, accessible public space in a rapidly densifying city.

Park(ing) Day is about sparking big conversations through small interventions,” says Heather Dubbeldam, Principal of Dubbeldam Architecture + Design. “By transforming parking spots into temporary parks and social spaces, we aim to inspire communities to think differently about how we use our streets.”

Park(ing) Day Toronto 2025 is made possible with the support of SvN Architects + Planners, Arup Canada, Dialog, and Fast + Epp, alongside organizer Dubbeldam Architecture + Design.

The event is open and accessible to all. Come explore, participate, and imagine the future of Toronto’s public spaces.
