OAA – 2024 Conference ConEd Call for Presenters

“Housing: Pushing the Envelope” Comes to Niagara Falls Next May

After the success of last month’s OAA Conference, Designing for Dignity in Sudbury, the Association is planning next year’s event at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre. To develop an exciting, relevant Continuing Education program for our May 22 to 24 event, the OAA is seeking unique proposals from members that exemplify what is current and upcoming for Ontario’s architectural profession and the public it serves. Like this year, the OAA is exploring both traditional classroom lectures as well as experiential learning—in-the-field case studies around the Niagara region.

The 2024 Conference theme is Housing: Pushing the Envelope.

With the National Housing Strategy Act recognizing adequate housing as a human right, the time is now for swift and thoughtful action. Next year’s event aims to bring together a diverse array of architecture experts to explore innovative ideas and solutions for designing safe, healthy, inclusive, and sustainable spaces.

From cutting-edge technologies to regenerative building principles, and from imaginative adaptive reuse to rethought densities, the goal is to delve into the latest trends and best practices. With a focus on addressing housing challenges in diverse communities—including homes, hospitality, and healthcare—the 2024 Conference will be a unique opportunity to learn, network, and contribute to the collective approach toward creating equitable housing in Ontario and beyond.

Are you interested in sharing your insight and expertise with others in the profession? Respond to the OAA’s online form to submit a brief outline of your proposed session. We want our members to be part of a conversation that explores the many roles for architecture professionals to have a meaningful impact on the future of housing.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, October 10.
