Call for TSA Volunteers: Youth Activation Facilitators

Have experience working with kids and families and want to inspire the next generation of city-builders? Come join us as a Facilitator for our youth activations during this year’s Doors Open Toronto!

The TSA will be hosting two kids and family oriented activations during this year’s Doors Open festival. One will be our Paper City program, hosted at UofT Daniels, that invites participants to test their architectural creativity by designing and building their own paper creations as part of a recyclable metropolis, and the other will be a new program hosted at TMU DAS challenging participants to build tall but efficient paper structures using only a handful of materials.

Facilitators help out with the day-of implementation of the program and overall logistics, including greeting visitors, helping participants with their creations, keeping track of supplies and attendance, setting up and tearing down, and answering questions about the activity, architecture, and the TSA. Volunteers for this program are reliable and outgoing team players who enjoy getting crafty and working with children and the public in general. All supplies for the activities will be provided along with detailed instructions. Previous experience working with kids is great, but not required.

What to expect?

Facilitators will support one of two TSA activities for one full-day shift (approx. 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM) during the Doors Open weekend (May 23-24, 2026). We will hold a mandatory half-day orientation session for volunteers on Saturday, May 9. New volunteers will also be required to complete a short online course on accessible customer service (30-40 minutes).
