Call for Case Studies: DIAC’s Design Impact Framework

Established in 2001, the Design Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) is a cross-disciplinary non-profit group focused on research and promotion of the strategic value of design.  DIAC is focused on cross-cutting, inter- and multi-disciplinary approaches to value generation through Design.  DIAC’s members include senior representatives of the professional associations representing architects, landscape architects, industrial, interior, graphic and fashion designers in Ontario.

From 2020 to the present, the Design Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) has featured projects in its Design Impacts Framework  to demonstrate the impacts of the strategic use of design. These impacts apply to all types of projects across all the design disciplines.

We are asking for great examples from local designers and companies that we can promote.  The key to this phase is the engagement of multiple design disciplines.

The cases should be short write ups (what you would include in your portfolio) but include some visuals and address each of the five critical impacts of the Design Impacts Framework:

  1. Design Embodies the Vision
  2. Design Enhances Functionality
  3. Design Creates Brand
  4. Design Embeds Environmental Benefits
  5. Design Promotes Health and Wellbeing
