AZURE Talks: Ceramic Futures with Tile of Spain
Join them for an AZURE Talk & exhibition with leading Canadian designers and Tile of Spain, exploring the evolving role of ceramics in design.
Ceramics are almost as old as civilization. According to most archeological research, the art of fired clay is at least 25,000-29,000 years old, marking one of the oldest — and most widespread — human inventions. Remarkably, it’s also a practice that’s continued to evolve. In 2025, the simple, organic building blocks of clay and heat continue to evolve, opening up new frontiers in function, sustainability and creative expression.
The talk will also explore the convergence of Spanish and Canadian design cultures, with insights on use of Spanish ceramics in a local context.
Following up on last year’s talk with Odami’s Arancha and Office Ou’s Nicolas Koff, the talk will explore the evolving possibilities of ceramics in Canadian design, highlighting diverse case studies and design strategies applied at projects of varying scale and typology.
