2024 TSA BASH

A long-established tradition, the TSA’s annual year-end BASH is an opportunity for the GTA’s architecture and design community to come together and celebrate in unique spaces across our city. No two years are alike, with a new featured venue chosen every year and the party tailored to reflect the design stories behind the building. Great food, delicious drinks and beautiful architecture—there is no better way to celebrate our city and those who shape it.

Attending the BASH is also a great way of supporting the work of the TSA, allowing us to continue to produce programs that promote and celebrate architecture in Toronto and the surrounding region.

2024 Venue: The Well

Well, well, well… you probably won’t be surprised that this year’s featured venue is the project everyone has been talking about! We are so excited to bring the 2024 BASH to The Well, Toronto’s largest building project of the last 20 years.

Comprising seven different buildings, linked together through a common retail podium, glass-covered pedestrian realm, and five levels below-grade (including an expansion to Toronto’s Deep Lake Water Cooling system), The Well is part of a new wave of mega-sites that are reshaping our city at a large scale. A true collaboration, this mixed-use complex which includes retail, offices and residential has been made possible through the combined efforts of 8 architecture and design practices including Hariri Pontarini Architects (master plan and office), Adamson Associates Architects (executive architect), BDP Quadrangle (retail), CCxA (landscape architect), Wallman Architects (Wellington St. residential), architects-Alliance (Front St. residential), Giannone Petricone Associates (Wellington Market) and Urban Strategies (urban design and planning). The project is highly porous, providing multiple points of entry that seek to connect to the surrounding urban fabric.

The party will be taking place in the lobby of 8 Spadina, the new 36-storey office building that acts as the eastern gateway into the complex. The tower marries modernity with industrial charm, featuring exposed post and beam structure, terraced forms, and macro-scale facade details, as well as a unique off-centre elevator core.

*What TSA event would be complete without a tour? This year we are excited to be offering 3 unique tours exploring different aspects of this massive project: Back-Of-House, The Spine and The Tower. The tours will be led by representatives of three of the practices involved in making this project possible including Hariri Pontarini Architects, Adamson Associates, and BDP Quadrangle.

Limited capacity is available and spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Tours will depart by 6:10 PM sharp and all those interested in attending are asked to arrive at 6:00 PM for sign ups and check in.
