TSA BASH 2024: The Well

With 400 attendees filling the brand-new lobby of The Well’s signature office tower, this year’s TSA BASH was another unforgettable evening!

A long-established tradition, the TSA’s annual year-end BASH is an opportunity for the GTA’s architecture and design community to come together and celebrate in unique spaces across our city. No two years are alike, with a new featured venue chosen every year and the party tailored to reflect the design stories behind the building. Great food, delicious drinks and beautiful architecture—there is no better way to celebrate our city and those who shape it, and we loved celebrating with all of you.

There was no lack of great architectural stories to tell at this year’s expansive venue—Toronto’s largest building project of the last 20 years—so to make sure we got to as many of them as possible, this year’s BASH opened with three unique tours covering different aspects of the complex. The Back-of-House tour led by Adamson Associates took attendees down into the guts of The Well, showing them the servicing areas required to support the activity above. Meanwhile, The Tower tour led by Hariri Pontarini Architects explored the design of the office tower with its unique side-loaded elevator core–the tour even included a stop at the offices of BDP Quadrangle up on the 21st floor! Last but not least, the team at BDP Quadrangle led us on a walk of The Spine, explaining the retail component of The Well and its connections to the city.

Once the tours returned, the party really got started! Great food and drinks went hand-in-hand with reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones—the familiar opportunities that make the BASH such a time-honoured tradition. Throughout the evening, attendees were also asked to describe the TSA in one word at our interactive “TSA” photobooth, providing a glimpse into how our Society is viewed by the membership and its supporters (not to mention a fun opportunity for pictures!).

We want to express our utmost gratitude to everyone who made this year’s BASH possible: from the hundreds of attendees who filled the space, to our amazing sponsors who make this and all of our initiatives possible. Thank you as well to our volunteer tour guides Michael Conway, Danielle Tsisko, Alex Richter, Gintaras Valiulis, Ossie Airewele, Dhruv Soni, Marcella Au, Andrea Katz and Elle Thomas for showing us around the complex and sharing its stories. A special shout out goes out to our TSA staff for putting together such a memorable party, our volunteers for the smooth running of the event, the helpful teams at The Well and O&B for accommodating all our (sometimes quirky) requests, and our friends at Entro for helping shape the BASH’s graphic identity. Our final thanks go to Ryan Falkenberg for volunteering his technical skills to light and provide audio to this year’s venue, and to our fabulous photographer Yianni Tong for helping document the evening with such energy.
