Election of New Treasurer

Friday, March 21, 2025

Last night the TSA held its 138th Annual General Meeting, an important yearly gathering that provides our membership an opportunity to learn more about the ongoing work of their Society and speak directly to our volunteer leadership team. Held at the historic Arts and Letters Club and livestreamed for those unable to make their way downtown, this year’s meeting included an overview of the accomplishments and challenges of the year behind us, discussions of our plans for the year ahead, and many moments to say thank you to those who make our work possible.

It being a Treasurer election year, we also thought it was the perfect occasion to take a deeper look at the changing nature of the TSA’s finances—presenting not only last year’s financial statement but taking a look at what has changed over the past 3 years. Our outgoing Treasurer Pamela Bruneau walked us through a number of different financial initiatives that have been undertaken under her care including more detailed and frequent financial updates to the board, improved tracking of grants and committed funds, and the safe investment of our reserve funds into GICs to help sustain the work of the Society.

We want to make a moment to say THANK YOU to Pamela for her dedication to the role of Treasurer over the past 3 years. It isn’t an easy job–particularly during these financially challenging times—and we are grateful for the work Pamela has undertaken to ensure the TSA is a more sustainable and resilient organization for years to come.

We are also pleased to announce that during the meeting TSA Executive Varsha Kumar was elected as Treasurer for the term 2025-2027. Congratulations Varsha!

Thank you to all who attended the AGM, whether virtually or in-person, and to our members, sponsors and partners for their continued support—we wouldn’t be much of a Society without you! Here’s to another year of bringing people together to discuss, learn, share and explore around our shared passion for the built environment.
