Be Part of our 2024 Programming

Tuesday December 05, 2023

While 2023 is not quite over yet, we are already hard at work planning a full roster of events and initiatives for 2024 and you can be part of them. Whether it’s leading a new building tour, sharing knowledge at a technical lecture, or opening your studio as part of Doors Open Toronto 2024, there are many opportunities for you and your studio to be part of next year’s programming. Check out some of the initiatives below and don’t miss out on being part of our 2024 calendar!

Looking for opportunities to volunteer as an individual? Keep an eye out for our upcoming Call for Volunteers in the first quarter of 2024. It’ll be brimming with opportunities across a range of initiatives, providing you with a chance to contribute and be a part of our exciting projects.

Doors Open Toronto 2024: Call for Open Studios | Jan 11

Are you an architecture studio located in Toronto? Do you wish to showcase your work and processes to the public? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Each year, as part of Doors Open Toronto, the TSA enlists a group of architectural practices to open the doors for a weekend in May and provide the public a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes behind designing and building the built environment. Last year, 6,000 attendees visited the studios, including many aspiring architects and designers looking to meet the people behind the architecture and understanding what studios are all about. Studios are required to open for at least one full day during the Doors Open weekend which will be taking place May 25-26.

For 2024, we have 10 spots available for both new and returning studios, and we will also be piloting a series of kid-friendly activities at a number of the TSA-supported sites in advancement of our youth outreach efforts.

If you are interested in participating, send us an email at tsa@torontosocietyofarchitects.ca by Thursday, January 11, and we will follow up with additional information and next steps.

Building Tours 2024: Call for Interest | Jan 31

We all love a good building tour and now is your turn to lead one! TSA Building Tours are amongst our most popular events, providing members and the public exclusive access to some of the city’s newest buildings and landscapes with tours led by the people behind their design. In 2023, we also introduced pre-recorded video tours, opening access to more sites across the GTA and a world-wide audience interested to learn more about Toronto’s architecture.

Do you have a new project in the works that you think would be a great fit? Let us know and be part of this initiative! We are currently looking for tours for our 2024 season. Projects can be under construction or recently completed, buildings or landscapes, and tours can happen either virtually (pre-recorded) or in-person. No prior tour guide experience is necessary as you’ll have the TSA team behind you in figuring out how to best share the story behind the building and taking care of all the technical behind-the-scenes aspects!

Ready to apply? Fill out this quick form and let us know a little bit about the project.

Technical Lectures & Workshops 2024: Call for Interest | Jan 31

With approximately 3,000 attendees a year, our Technical Lectures are our most popular professional education initiative. These skill-building virtual lectures aim at addressing timely and relevant topics to the profession, with content ready for application in day-to-day practice. In 2023, our program expanded to also include an in-person workshop as we explore new ways to learn together.

We are currently working at setting the roster for our 2024 technical lectures and are always looking for new ideas and recommendations! If you are someone looking to share your expertise with the industry (or know of an excellent speaker we should approach), please let us know and send us an email at tsa@torontosocietyofarchitects.ca.
