Now in its second year, the BDAs spotlight residential and small-scale commercial spaces that push boundaries, elevate everyday experiences and shape how we live. Whether you’re a seasoned studio or an emerging name, this is your chance to be recognized—not only by your peers, but by the design-forward homeowners and readers who turn to Designlines for inspiration.

They want to see your best in the following categories:

Signature Space 

This category honours exceptional creativity and innovation in the residential design of a single room. Whether it’s a luxurious bedroom, a striking kitchen, or a serene study, the winning entry will demonstrate how a single room can make a bold, lasting impression.

Home Renovation

Celebrating remarkable residential transformations that maximize both style and utility, this category recognizes projects with a clear and compelling vision—ones that seamlessly blend the old with the new to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also deeply functional.

Cottage

This category honours completed residential retreats—cabins, chalets, or lakefront homes—anywhere in Ontario that combine comfort, character, and thoughtful design. This award recognizes projects that make the most of their natural surroundings and seasonal context, showcasing how well-considered design can enhance the experience of escape and connection to the outdoors.

Restaurant / Bar / Hotel

This category recognizes outstanding interior designs that elevate the ambiance and guest experience in hospitality settings. The winning project will capture the essence of its establishment, offering guests an experience that is as visually striking as it is enjoyable.

Shop / Showroom

Enter the Shop/Showroom category with a retail environment that embraces modern design as a vital part of its visual identity. This award recognizes spaces that do more than display products—they immerse customers in a brand experience through creative, considered interior design.

Product Design

This category celebrates original furniture, lighting, and homeware pieces that exemplify excellence in form, function, and fabrication. Whether custom-created for a specific project or designed for small-scale production, the winning entry will demonstrate how good design elevates everyday objects into works of art that are as practical as they are beautiful.

Emerging Talent

Celebrating early-career designers, this category spotlights a budding talent working in the residential sphere (four years or less in the industry) who demonstrate exceptional creativity and potential. The winning designer (or team) will show a distinctive vision, originality and craftsmanship that push the boundaries of conventional design and point to an exciting future.
