Masterclass with Mario Cucinella

In collaboration with the 2025 Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) Architecture & Design program, TMU and the Department of Architectural Science (DAS) is excited to host the internationally acclaimed architect Mario Cucinella for an in-depth masterclass exploring how architecture can respond to the environmental and social challenges of our time.

Open to students, faculty, and recent graduates in the architecture and design fields, this session will delve into Cucinella’s design philosophy, research approach, his work and his Bologna and Milan-based studio, MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects.

Participants will gain insight into the principles behind ecological architecture and how design can promote climate resilience, social equity, and community well-being. The Masterclass will address four thematic pillars — Environmental Quality, Life Quality, Life Cycle, and Past & Future — which frame MCA’s holistic approach to regenerative architecture as a space for research, experimentation and innovation.
