Doors Open Toronto 2025 - Architects Talk: Spaces For Play
When was the last time you went out and played?
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, play often falls by the wayside. But, play is good for you at any age! It helps us feel happier and stay healthier, stimulates our creativity, and trains our problem solving skills. Play helps nurture communities and strengthen the city’s neighbourhood—and besides—it’s just fun to do! So, what if we were more intentional in designing our cities for play, not just for children but for everyone?
Join the Toronto Society of Architects and Doors Open Toronto for our 2025 Architects Talk as our speakers engage in a series of fast-paced presentations (20 slides shown for 20 seconds each) exploring their work encouraging play in the city. From skateboards to ice skates and playgrounds to parks, see how play is taking shape in our city (sometimes in the places you least expect it!) and learn more about the serious work that goes behind making a playful city. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A where we will further explore the relationship between play and our city. How can we make whimsy and joy part of our every day?
