ADFF Toronto 2026: The Tingbjerg Experiment
The Tingbjerg Experiment is a portrait of a changing neighborhood. A documentary portrait that, through a series of character-driven stories, goes beyond the prejudices about one of Copenhagen’s most notorious districts.
Over the course of several years, the neighborhood’s population is set to double, and private homes will be built among the public housing. This is based on the “parallel society law” of 2018, which provides the framework for this massive construction project—what researchers call the largest social housing experiment since World War II. No one knows what this process will lead to. Will it be perceived as a loss and a political intervention when houses are built on the lawns just outside residents’ windows? Will the new homes attract new residents eager to create new activities, and will new forms of neighborhood community emerge?

The TSA is proud to once again be partnering with ADFF: Toronto to bring a series of panel discussions and post-screening Q&As that complement this year’s film roster.
