Call for Volunteers: TSA Event Support Team
Are you an outgoing team player who is always willing to lend a hand? Want to experience a wide variety of the TSA’s in-person programming? Then come join us as an Event Support Volunteer! We are looking for a reliable group of volunteers (15) to be a part of the day-of logistics and events team that helps make our year-round in-person events possible.
Whether you are a returning volunteer seeking a recurring commitment, or a dedicated first-time volunteer looking to get to know the organization, this is a great opportunity to see all that we do and get hands-on with a wide range of TSA programs.
TSA Event Support Volunteers are outgoing, approachable, and punctual individuals, who are passionate about creating community in our industry and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. They are dependable volunteers who don’t mind jumping in and getting their hands dirty, and are always on the lookout for proactive ways to contribute to the smooth running of our events. Previous attendance at and familiarity with the TSA’s initiatives and events is highly recommended, but not a requirement.
What to expect?
This is a recurring role with selected applicants expected to join us at 3-5 different events over the next year (October 2026 – September 2027). Assigned events are based on the availability you provide. Events for Fall 2026 will be assigned upon onboarding, while events in 2027 will be assigned with as much notice as possible. Most TSA events happen on weekday evenings (often Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with typical shifts beginning at or after 5:00 PM) or daytime on weekends. Applicants will be asked about their availability during application.
Responsibilities will include event set up and tear down, greeting guests, check-in and registration, bartending support, keeping the venue tidy, and other logistical event support as needed. Exact responsibilities will vary by event. Tasks will be shared amongst volunteers and there will typically always be an opportunity to participate in the event as well.
We will be hosting an online orientation session for selected candidates at 6:00 PM on October 1 to kick us off for the season. If this is your first time volunteering with us, you will also be required to complete a short online course on accessible customer service (30-40 minutes). Those interested in bartending will also be asked to complete the Smart Serve Ontario course (4 hours), with costs covered by the TSA.
Shift dates and times may vary depending on the event. While additional opportunities may come up throughout the year on an ad hoc basis, currently planned events include:
- TSA CONNECT | October 5, 2026
- Architecture and Design Film Festival: Toronto | November 4-7, 2026
- TSA CONNECT | November 10, 2026
- TSA BASH | November 27, 2026
