Webinar - BAIDA Newcomers Series: Esi Ngwenya
This initiative is an opportunity for newcomers to Toronto/Canada to tune in and hear about how a variety of professionals relocated their career to a new context. Guest speakers will feature licensed architects and interior designers, as well as professionals who pivoted in their career and re-established themselves.
This month, BAIDA welcomes Esi Ngwenya to the BAIDA Newcomers Series. Drawing on professional experience across Botswana, South Africa, and Canada, Esi brings a valuable perspective on navigating career transitions and adapting to new professional environments. He also offers insight into the growing role of technology within the design and construction industry.
Esi Ngwenya is an architectural professional whose career journey spans multiple countries and disciplines within the design and construction industry. Born in Halifax, Canada, Esi spent his early childhood in Michigan before moving to his native country of Botswana, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and began his professional career in architecture. He later gained industry experience practicing in both Botswana and South Africa, building a strong foundation in design and project delivery.
Recognizing the growing impact of technology in the built environment, Esi later pivoted into Building Information Modeling (BIM) and relocated to Toronto to pursue new opportunities within Canada’s evolving design and construction sector. Today, he works as a BIM Coordinator at Diamond Schmitt Architects, where he supports project teams in leveraging digital workflows and collaborative technologies to deliver complex architectural projects.
Esi joins BAIDA’s Newcomers Series to share his exciting journey and offer perspective on adaptability and how he’s cultivated a globalized perspective in design.
