Architect as Developer: Downtown walking tour of four MODERNest Houses

Architect Kyra Clarkson, Co-Owner of MODERNest Inc., will lead a walking tour to highlight four houses built by MODERNest Inc. Designed and developed by Architects, the houses are within a ten-minute walk of one another in the Queen St. West-King St. West neighbourhood. We will feature stand-alone Houses 2 and 3, and paired Houses 5 and 6, which sit on atypical lots, in an eclectic urban context.

The tour will address issues relating to designing modern houses that sit within a downtown neighbourhood fabric, including planning challenges, design considerations, and material choices and detailing. The tour will touch on developing these projects with regards to market forces, construction challenges and delivery alternatives. As all of the houses are privately owned, the tour will not include the house interiors.
