Join a walking tour and presentation of the Under Gardiner Public Realm Plan on September 26, as we explore how the spaces under the Expressway can better serve Toronto.
Come explore the potential of the space under the Gardiner! For the past two years, we’ve been speaking with local residents, businesses, civic leaders, and partners to explore: How can the spaces under the Gardiner Expressway better serve our city?
As the Under Gardiner Public Realm Plan enters its final phase of development, we are pleased to share the report’s recommendations in this public Showcase.
In partnership with the City of Toronto, we will present key findings, proposed outcomes, and share details from the two-year engagement process that informed the Plan. The Showcase will ground the report’s long-range, ambitious recommendations in real-life examples, including recently completed public space projects and pilots along the corridor.
4:00pm – 5:30pm: Under Gardiner Walking Tour
Meet us at York Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West to explore the emerging public realm along the under Gardiner corridor!
6:00pm – 6:30pm: Under Gardiner Public Realm Plan Presentation
Join The Bentway and the City of Toronto at the Bentway Studio (55 Fort York Boulevard) to learn more about the collaborative planning process, key findings and report recommendations that will inform the future development of the under Gardiner corridor.
6:30pm-7:15pm: Panel Discussion
Following the presentation, we will host a lively panel discussion with civic and design leaders from across the city. Hear from Lauren Abrahams of Public Work, Matthew Hickey of Two Row Architect, Tennesha Joseph of 8 80 Cities, and Lanrick Bennett, Toronto’s first Bicycle Mayor, as they explore the necessary conditions for a holistic and supportive public realm and identify the actions to get there.
