TSA Technical Series | Mitigating Bias in Hiring
12:00 PM noon - 1:30 PM
Online via Zoom Webinar
As part of our commitment to creating a more inclusive and welcoming profession and industry, join us for a special online technical lecture with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion as we tackle the very practical task of hiring, and how to manage bias as part of this process.
During this 1.5 hour session our speakers will break down the process, identify areas of potential bias and hiring solutions. We will begin by highlighting bias-free entry principles and review the model for non-discriminatory processes and procedures with respect to recruitment and hiring. The model provides a focus on everything from advertising jobs through making hiring decisions. We will also review factors that contribute to bias such as perceptions of fit, individual lenses and individual comfort levels with differences. The session will end with leading practice remedies and strategies for managing commonplace biases.
Whether you work at a large or small practice, at the end of this session you will leave with practical strategies and resources you can implement in your own hiring practices.
