Michael McClelland
Founding Principal, ERA

A registered architect and founding Principal of ERA Architects, Michael McClelland OAA, AAA, FRAIC, CAHP has specialized in heritage conservation, heritage planning, and urban design for over 25 years. Having begun his career in municipal government, most notably for the Toronto Historical Board, Michael continues to work with a wide range of public and private stakeholders to build culture through thoughtful, values-based heritage planning and design.

Well known for his contribution to the discourse surrounding heritage architecture and landscape architecture in Canada, Michael speaks regularly in the media and at public and professional events, has published numerous articles and edited several books, and has received numerous awards and honours.

Kate Bowman
Partner, Centerline Architecture

Kate Bowman is an architect and partner at Centreline Architecture in Sudbury, ON.  Originally from Grimsby, Ontario, Kate moved to Sudbury in early 2008 after completing her thesis at the University of Waterloo to act as the Project Manager for the development of the McEwen School of Architecture at Laurentian University.  Once opened, Kate stayed in the north to complete her training, and eventually joined Centreline in 2017.  There she's help grow the firm from a residential design company to a full-service office that works on a variety of projects and types.  When not working, Kate and her wife fill their days trying to distract their three year old son from jumping on or off things.

Elle Flanders
Partner, Public Studio

PUBLIC STUDIO is the collective art practice of filmmaker Elle Flanders and architect Tamira Sawatzky. Since 2009, Public Studio has employed a diverse range of media resulting in large-scale public art works, films, immersive installations, lens-based works and socially engaged projects. Public Studio was founded with the intent of exposing the antagonisms that define issues of public space and its disappearance, as well as the effects of globalization on our everyday landscapes. Their multidisciplinary practice has engaged topics such as war and militarization, ecology and urbanization, and political dissent. Central to their work is a desire to bridge notions of the aesthetic and the ethical, and question the role art can play in not simply “making meaning,” but “making meaning matter.”

Kfir Gluzberg
Principal, Kilogram Studio

Kfir Gluzberg is an architect, designer, and teacher. Originally from Israel, Gluzberg was raised in Toronto and in 2014, he founded Kilogram Studio. Gluzberg’s focus on material research and fabrication began during several years of travel, schooling, and professional work abroad. Gluzberg balanced professional work and licensure with his continued research including his exhibited entry Unfolded Box at the Venice Biennale at the Canadian Pavilion, which explored his own immigrant identity. Kilogram’s work is similarly based on material testing and conceptual analogy. He was a 2019 Finalist in the Design Exchange Emerging Design Competition, and Kilogram was awarded the 2019 Best in Canada Award for Split Rock. Gluzberg sees his role as architect and community member and extends his work into teaching and volunteerism. He is a water polo player on Toronto’s LGBTQ+ water polo team, the Toronto Triggerfish.

Tamira Sawatzky
Partner, Public Studio

Scott Weir
Principal, ERA

Scott Weir OAA, RAIC, M.Arch, LEED AP, CAHP is a registered Architect and Principal at ERA Architects. Scott has been with the firm since 2000 and specializes in heritage conservation, adaptive reuse, new design and heritage planning. He has a particular interest in design for hospitality and leisure, and the custom design and renovation of residences and cottages. Scott brings an ability to maximize the value of existing buildings within a redevelopment scheme’s design, and the ability to minimize risk while integrating diverse but specialized programmatic requirements into the constraints of an old building or repurposed site.

An avid photographer, bibliophile, and writer, Scott’s interest in cultural theory and North American urbanism has led to his work being published in a variety of architectural periodicals. He has been formally trained in Canada, Italy, and the U.K, and he regularly guest lectures for various programs at the University of Toronto, York, Ryerson, and Carleton Universities.
