Located within University of Toronto St. George Campus, The Goldring Student Centre at Victoria University is a renovation and addition to Eric Arthur’s Wymilwood Building. The 40,000 SF addition doubles the size of the original building and introduces contemporary and accessible student and administrative spaces, including a variety of informal study spaces such as student lounges, study and seminar rooms, as well as outdoor patios and terraces. The primary spaces overlook the new quad, which is the heart of the project, and was made possible by the relocation of an access road that previously ran through the site.
The tour will be presented by Carol Phillips, Principal and Phil Silverstein, Associate at Moriyama & Teshima Architects.
Carol Phillips joined Moriyama & Teshima Architects in 2005 and was named Associate in 2006. Carol’s first completed project at M&T won six design awards and was published in five countries. In 2014, Carol was named a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.
Phil Silverstein has delivered many major university projects — the UTM Innovation Complex, UTSC Science Research Building, Goldring Student Centre, Multi-Faith Centre and School of Continuing Studies. All were renovations and expansions of existing buildings, an expertise Phil has further developed through the Niagara Falls History Museum, Guelph Civic Administration Complex and Humber College Centre for Entrepreneurship.
