Information

Passive House Canada is a national non-profit professional association advocating for the Passive House high-performance building standard. Passive House is recognized internationally as the proven best way to build for comfort, affordability and energy efficiency of residential, institutional and commercial buildings, through all stages of design, construction, and livability.

The Passive House Canada Conference will bring together building professionals, manufacturers and suppliers who, today, deliver the buildings to be mandated by future building codes. There are a multitude of Passive House buildings built, under construction or in design across Canada. In the past few years, the international Passive House standard of energy efficiency has transformed from fringe to mainstream parts of Canada. In the City of Toronto, the Green Building Standard encourages a reduction of energy loads in buildings, and encourages passive design strategies.  The Zero Emissions Buildings Framework outlines the path to energy reduction in buildings.

At the Passive House Conference, participants can expect to participate in engaging and interactive sessions that will further enhance their knowledge of the standard and how it supports the City’s mandate to reduce emissions. Those new to the standard will find opportunities to network and learn from other Passive House enthusiasts.

Topics include large scale Passive House building case studies including high-rises, academic institutional buildings. Design strategies, deep energy retrofit strategies, health benefits of high-performance, Part 9 case studies, advancement of municipal to national building standards, procurement of high-performance buildings.
