The Boulevard du Littoral is the major waterfront Boulevard in Marseille and under the auspices of ZAC Cité de la Méditerranée EPA EUROMEDITERRANEE has undergone significant urban redesign and redevelopment over the past decade. How does it compare with the challenge of redesign and redevelopment of the Toronto waterfront’s Queens Quay over the same period of time?
Alan LEVITT
Born Montreal Quebec in 1951, Alan was raised and educated in Toronto Ontario. Taking a break from the University of Toronto, Alan attended the l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts , Paris, as auditor between 1972-1973. He received a Bachelor of Architecture (HONS) from the University of Toronto in 1975. After settling in Paris in 1979, Alan registered as Architect (Ordre des Architectes – article 10-2) in 1982. He was an Associate Architect with Yves Lion DPLG Paris 1986- 2000 (winning the Equerre d’Argent for Musée de l’Amitié Franco-Américaine à Blérancourt 1989); Associate Architect with Bureau des Paysages-AAC Gentilly, 2000-2010; and Associate Architect with Ateliers Lion et Associés Architectes, Urbanistes, Paysagistes since 2011. Alan’s work has focused on the urban redesign of Boulevard du Littoral since 2011.
