Jane’s Walk Annual Festival
May 6, 7, 8, 2016
On the weekend of May 6th, 7th & 8th of this year, thousands of people around the world will come together to take part in the growing global phenomenon that is the Jane’s Walk Festival. Now celebrating its 10th year, the festival consists of free, locally-led walks inspired by the iconic writer and urban activist Jane Jacobs.
Jane’s Walk cultivates a broad understanding of how cities develop, function, and thrive. It works to advance walkable neighbourhoods, increase urban literacy, and promote neighbourhood cohesion, civic engagement and leadership.
Past walk themes include the experience of being a newcomer to a community, local food, public art, public spaces, accessibility, health and wellbeing, sports, gender issues, politics, revitalization of green spaces and buildings, and much more. All walks are free of charge and open to all! There’s a walk for everyone so check out our online listings at the link below and come out to walk the city you love!
