ICFF Architettura & Design 2021 | Homo Hurbanus -Venetianus
Ontario Place - Trillium Park
HOMO HURBANUS – VENETAINUS
Directed by: Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine
PLOT : After the trying constraints of lockdown and social distancing that brutally reduced urban space to its strict minimum, making it into a place where isolated individuals merely cohabit, Homo Urbanus is a cinematic odyssey offering a vibrant tribute to what we have been most cruelly deprived of: namely, public space. Taking the form of a free-wheeling journey around the world (10 films, 10 cities), the project invites us to observe in detail the multiple forms and complex interactions that exist every day between people and their urban environments. ICFF will present the 10th episode on Venice named “Home Urbanus Venetianus”
The documentary directed by Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine is centered around architecture and construction in relation with the water environment through the images of the successes and struggles of Venice’s architecture. The screening will be accompanied by the presentation of the filmmakers as well as a panel discussion. Toronto Waterfront representatives will also shed a light on the new projects and ideas in development for the city.
The debate will be moderated by award winning designers, Dragana Maznic and Anna Simone.
