Homes and buildings generate about half of the greenhouse gas emissions in Toronto today. To reduce the worst impacts of climate change, the City of Toronto has a target to reach net zero emissions by 2050, or sooner. To reach the target, all existing homes and buildings in Toronto will need to be much more energy-efficient than they are today. Learn more about the City’s TransformTO Climate Action Strategy.
To date, the BBP has facilitated more than 2,600 projects, resulting in over 4.6 million MWh in energy savings and eliminating the equivalent of 810,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Through the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP), the City provides funding, expertise and support to improve the energy efficiency of Toronto’s residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings. Get started today.
