Look for the black and white TSA umbrella!
Over the last 200 years, our waterfront’s story is one of constant reinvention. As the relationship between Toronto and Lake Ontario has transformed, so too has our shoreline – shape shifting, growing and adjusting in response to the emerging metropolis upon it. This transformation continues to this day, as our once bustling commercial harbour transitions into a new role – this time as a string of vibrant neighbourhoods bringing together recreation, living and work on the water’s edge.
Come take a walk with the Toronto Society of Architects as we explore this transformative process by delving into the buildings and landscapes of East Bayfront, a new mixed-use neighbourhood rising on the formerly industrial Queen Elizabeth Docks. Join us as we uncover the legacy of our industrial past and its hidden (and not so hidden) traces, as well as some of the newly completed landscapes and buildings that are already dramatically reshaping our shoreline’s character. Along the way we will discuss some of the exciting projects – many already underway – which will continue to redefine and reshape the waterfront as we know it.
