Looking to grow your network while lending your skills to furthering the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA)’s architecture and design public outreach efforts? Want to lend a hand in helping the public better understand what architects do? Come join us as a volunteer for our Open Studio program during Doors Open Toronto 2022!

Each year, in partnership with the City of Toronto,  the Toronto Society of Architects enlists a select group of architectural practices to open their studio doors for Doors Open weekend to introduce the public and aspiring young architects and designers to the world of the architectural studio. The selected practices range from young, up and coming firms to large established studios working on a wide variety of projects – giving the public unparalleled access to the offices and people that are shaping our city. 

Our TSA Doors Open volunteers are enthusiastic ambassadors for the TSA and architecture. They provide support to the participating studios, helping with logistics throughout the day, greeting visitors and help answer questions about architecture and the TSA in general. TSA Doors Open volunteers are reliable, out-going and resourceful. They are passionate about architecture and enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life.

What to expect as a TSA Open Studio Volunteer 

TSA Open Studio  volunteers commit to helping out one of our participating studios for one full-day (9:30 AM – 5:30 PM) during Doors Open weekend (May 28-29,2022). New volunteers to this initiative will also be required to attend one mandatory 1 hour training session with the TSA in late April and complete a short online course on accessible customer service (30-40 minutes). After Doors Open, volunteers will be asked to provide feedback on their experience and what can be improved in future years.

Ready to volunteer? Send us your name, contact information and availability during Doors Open weekend to tsa@torontosocietyofarchitects.ca. To help us match you to the best studio, please include in your email a little bit about you and  why you would like to volunteer in this initiative.

Established in 1887, the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA) is a non-profit volunteer-led organization dedicated to bringing people together to discuss, learn and explore around our shared passion for the built environment.
