Call for Pride Organizing Committee Volunteers
Expression of Interest Deadline - March 9th, 2020
Looking to grow your network while lending your skills to furthering the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA)’s commitment to equality and diversity? Want to lend a hand in shaping our profession’s representation in Toronto’s largest celebration of inclusivity? Come join us as a volunteer for our TSA at Pride 2020 Organizing Committee!
Held yearly since 1981, Toronto’s Pride parade was born as a march seeking to give a voice to the LGBTQ2 community in its fight for equal rights and the end of discrimination. Today, Pride has become a celebration of our city’s diversity, recognizing the advances in these goals over the past several decades, while reminding us that much work still needs to be done. After a very successful first year at Pride with over 100 TSA members, friends and family marching down Yonge Street in our volunteer designed and built float, the TSA is once again joining thousands of parade participants in expressing our commitment to diversity and inclusion in our city and profession.
Members of the TSA at Pride 2020 Organizing Committee are enthusiastic, reliable and organized volunteer leads that work closely with the TSA Programming Director and the TSA Executive to ensure the successful planning and execution of our participation at Pride. They are creative and resourceful, helping shape our Society’s contribution to Pride and dedicated to making sure things get done. Our Pride committee members are passionate about diversity, inclusivity and architecture, and enjoy working in collaborative settings.
What is expected of a TSA Pride 2020 Organizing Committee Volunteer?
Members of this volunteer committee are expected to attend meetings once a month from March to June to help in the planning and creative vision of this TSA Initiative. Meetings will last up to 1.5 hours and will be scheduled after work hours or on weekends.
In May and June, committee members will help lead the fabrication and implementation of the TSA’s Pride float ideas. The day of the Parade, they will assist in general organizational and logistical tasks as required to ensure everyone has a great time! .
