Bayfront Builders’ Challenge

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Hamilton, ON

(905) 522-8686

For the past several years, Threshold School of Building has been hosting its annual Bayfront Builders’ Challenge on the outdoor roller rink behind Williams Fresh Café at 47 Discovery Drive in Hamilton. The event is held on a Saturday in June and involves teams competing for approximately 4 hours to design and construct one or two pieces of patio furniture, using materials provided by Threshold School. Once completed, each team’s finished product is judged on overall design, workmanship and proper finishing techniques. Winners receive trophies, gifts and bragging rights. Completed projects are auctioned off at the end of the day.

This exciting fundraising event is free to the public and profiles teams representing the construction and trades industries, local organizations, and non-profit agencies. Food and refreshments are available at very reasonable prices, and a children’s activity table is provided as well. FreshFM 95.3 provides a local DJ to emcee the event.

It’s a great way to celebrate the Threshold School of Building and the tremendous career opportunities for Hamilton youth in the trades. It’s also a great way for Hamilton organizations and builders to come out and compete in design and construction. Ultimately, it brings together the challenges of good building with strategies to support youth employment.

This year’s event will be held on June 9th from 10 am until 2 pm.

Threshold School of Building is a non-profit organization that teaches basic building and employability skills to at-risk youth in the City of Hamilton. These skills are taught through a combination of hands-on instruction in our workshop, and on-site at projects for non-profit and community organizations. To date, Threshold School of Building has trained over 500 youth, and completed over 50 community projects, the majority of which are found within the City of Hamilton’s Priority Neighbourhoods. Projects not only build skills and experience but instill a social conscience in our youth. (Charity Business Number 875130619 RR0001)
