Gillian Walczak
Associate, Gensler
Gillian Walczak, RAIC, OAA, is an architect and an Associate who has worked at Gensler for five years. She brings experience in architecture, art, and innovation to an urban scale, working with developers in Toronto and across Canada to transform their properties for potential tenants. Her approach is grounded in usability and functionality while never losing sight of the need for buildings to inspire. By pairing visualization skills with workplace expertise, her projects show buildings through a business lens that clients value and understand. Her experience at Gensler includes a variety of master planning and repositioning projects, as well as complex, high-end work such as the Holt Renfrew flagship on Bloor Street.
Beyond her role as an architect, Gillian plays a pivotal role in Gensler’s Community Impact team and DEI efforts. She is currently leading efforts to pursue equitable design solutions in our cities and communities. A sought-after artist, Gillian’s Community Impact work has taken the form of irreverent and joyful urban interventions. She has been at the helm of multiple large-scale installations at DesignTO. Her award-winning work has served to activate communities and reanimate overlooked urban environments.
Gillian holds a Master in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from Carleton University.
