History

Established on October 3, 1887 as a social gathering for the city’s leading architects under the name “The Architectural Guild”, the Toronto Society of Architects has been around for a very long time. While we’ve evolved through the years, our ethos remains the same as our early days – creating a community for architects and other built environment enthusiasts, providing a platform for the discussion of issues of city-building, and advocating and educating for the betterment of our cities. The stories below are chapters of this long history, capturing where we come from and how we have evolved to meet the needs of a changing city.
